Gemini Notebook now lives inside the Gemini chat: what you can do

Gemini Notebook is now a connected app in the Gemini chat: create notebooks, edit sources and ask without copy-pasting. Who can turn it off.

Gemini Notebook is now a connected app inside the Gemini chat. On October 23, 2026, Google announced that you can tag @Gemini Notebook in a chat to create, edit or delete notebooks, add or update their sources, and ask questions answered using the context of your notes, with nothing to copy and paste. It is on by default, except in the European Economic Area.

What changed with Gemini Notebook in the chat

The problem isn't the AI: it's that it couldn't reach your notes. If your notes lived in a notebook and your chat in another tab, you ended up copying and pasting every time you asked something. Now Gemini Notebook works as a connected app inside the Gemini app, so the chat reaches your notebooks directly.

The three things you do from the chat

    • Create, edit or delete notebooks. You tag @Gemini Notebook and tell it what to do.
    • Add, update or delete the sources of each notebook, from the same chat.
    • Ask questions using your notebooks' context. Answers come from your notes, with nothing pasted.

Instead of being a messenger between two tabs, you can just ask the chat and keep working.

    Who can turn it off

It's on by default, except in the European Economic Area, where it's off. Workspace admins control access from the Gemini and Gemini Notebook settings, and each person can change it under Settings, Connected apps.

    Who has it available

It is available for Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and personal Google accounts. The announcement doesn't mention extra cost or usage limits.
